Structural Solutions – Case Studies in E2G’s Balanced Approach
This webinar took a closer look at the role of structural engineering for industrial and refining facilities. Learn how structural engineering focuses on finding a balance in terms of equilibrium. Derek Slovenec explained how E2G takes this concept of “balance” to heart by applying structural engineering theory and techniques to fit any project’s needs. Sometimes, hand calculations ranging from simple beam theory to complex buckling equations are needed, while other problems may necessitate skillful structural modeling to provide an accurate solution. Using a variety of case studies, Derek Slovenec details several projects where our structural engineering expertise provided key insight into analysis, design, retrofit, and repair efforts.
The design and analysis of welded storage tanks can involve the application of a number of interrelated requirements of API 650. Application of these requirements may not always be intuitive to personnel responsible for storage tank integrity. This course will provide the attendee a practical understanding of the basics of aboveground storage tank design and analysis. Many aspects of tank design are presented such as roof designs, foundations, materials considerations, fabrication, examination, and testing. The course emphasizes these design elements relative to API 650 requirements, but other storage tank designs, such as API 620 tanks, are also covered within the course.
