Existing guidance on how to develop an effective hydrogen bake-out procedure has mostly been contained in in-house rules-of-thumb. However, because the problem is so imperative to reducing the likelihood of hydrogen-induced cracking after a repair weld, and the fact that there is such a wide range of guidance provided in said rules-of-thumb, E2G has developed a novel approach to providing tailored guidance for case-specific hydrogen bake-out procedures. Moreover, an easy-to-use web-based software tool has been developed to allow users to directly determine the most effective bake-out procedure for their application.
