Whenever a new edition of an API document is published, owners-users must determine how the changes from the previous edition will affect their current Mechanical Integrity (MI) programs. In the 3rd edition of API RP 581, Risk-Based Inspection Methodology, which was published in April 2016, there were several changes to the methodology that modify how risk is calculated, affecting either the Probability of Failure (POF) or the Consequence of Failure (COF). This article briefly describes each change and discusses how those changes ultimately affect the risk calculation.  (EEPub062)
