Course Description

This Pressure Vessels: ASME VIII-2 course provides the engineer a practical understanding of the advanced pressure vessel design and analysis rules of the ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code, Section VIII, Division 2 (ASME VIII-2). The course covers an overview of the nine Parts of VIII-2, including general requirements, responsibilities and duties, material requirements, design by rule (DBR), design by analysis (DBA), fabrication requirements, inspection and examination requirements, pressure testing requirements, and pressure vessel overpressure protection.

The course focuses on the DBR procedures of Part 4 of ASME VIII-2 that are different than those found in ASME VIII-1, including design of shell and head components for internal and external pressure, openings in shells and heads, flange analysis, and the design for protection against brittle fracture and minimum design metal temperature (MDMT) found in Part 3. The minimum design load case combinations and the examination and inspection requirements found in Part 7 are also highlighted. The course consists of lectures interspersed with example problems that introduce concepts covered in the lectures. The focus of the course is design and analysis requirements, but it also includes practical information that comes from instructors who have worked for Owner-Users as well as in a consulting capacity.

Yes. It is requested that attendees that require a U.S. Visa register for the course at least two months prior to the course. Upon confirmation of registration and course fee payment, E2G will provide the attendee with a Letter of Invitation for use in obtaining a U.S. Visa.
