What’s your process for monitoring equipment limits?

API RP 970 provides recommendations on developing, implementing, and maintaining corrosion control documents (CCDs); however, the recommendations generally remain at the owner’s discretion. Refineries, Petrochemical and Chemical Process facilities all benefit from implementing integrity operating windows (IOWs) and CCDs to prevent failures, optimize production, and extend an asset’s life span.

E2G follows a streamlined process, using API 970 and API 584 as guidelines, to define site-specific IOWs and CCDs at industrial manufacturing facilities.

CCDs and IOWs are reliability tools that help move a plant organization from reactive to proactive.

Why do you need IOWs and CCDs?

Safe & Reliable Operations

  • Proactive tools to manage damage rates, create operating limits, and establish monitoring programs
  • Support turnaround planning and shutdown/start-up strategies
  • Provide recommendations for equipment upgrades, replacements, and process changes

CCDs and IOWs are instrumental to mechanical integrity and RBI programs as they outline the proper design, construction, operation, monitoring, inspection, and mechanical integrity improvements for your facility or equipment.

IOWs

  • Establish limits for process equipment to maintain integrity and improve reliability
  • Promote predictable damage rates
  • Follow actionable steps if and when equipment exceeds set limits
  • API RP 584 provides information needed to identify which equipment may require an IOW, and how to create and implement IOWs for that equipment

CCDs

  • Multi-disciplinary roadmap for specific damage-related information, impacts, and supporting data for a process unit
  • Implement and integrate into plant processes and management
  • Promote proper design, construction, monitoring, inspection, and mechanical integrity improvements
  • Track corrosion & other damage mechanisms (creep, fatigue, brittle fracture, hydrogen embrittlement, and HTHA)
